Course Info
Purpose
This STCW course aims to maintain/update the requirements set out in STCW A Chapter. VI/1-1 and VI/1-2.
Structure
The course is delivered as blended learning whereas the practical training will be conducted at a VIKING partner location. Theoretical training will be completed online prior to practical course date.
Content
The course combines both modules of the Basic Safety Training refresher (Personal Survival Techniques and Fire Prevention and Firefighting).
Target group
Seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship on the business of that ship as part of the ship’s complement with designated safety or pollution-prevention duties in the operation of the ship shall, before being assigned to any shipboard duties receive appropriate approved basic training according to STCW A-VI/1-1 + A-VI/1-2.

Valid certificate for initial STCW A-VI/1-1 + A-VI/1-2 training and personal ID with picture (passport/driver's license). Suitable clothes to wear under survival suit and fire suit.

Prerequisites
Valid certificate for initial STCW A-VI/1-1 + A-VI/1-2 training and at least 1 year of seagoing service within the last 5 years
Certification
Certificate of Proficiency according to STCW.
Revalidation
Revalidation to be conducted every five years.
