Purpose

The S30 Liferaft Onboard Inspection course is a competency giving course that certifies the onboard inspector to do the annual inspections of the liferafts onboard.

Content

The special design of the VIKING S30 liferaft means that service intervals by VIKING authorised service stations can be extended up to a maximum of 30 months instead of 12 month service intervals for a standard liferaft. To ensure the liferaft remains in optimum condition during this extended service period the VIKING S30 liferaft is packaged in a protective sealed pouch made from aluminium which helps to protect the liferaft from coming in to contact with destructive elements like water and humidity. At intervals not exceeding 12 months the crew are responsible for performing an onboard inspection of the liferaft that includes testing the environment inside the aluminium pouch as well as a visual inspection of the liferaft container.
