Purpose
The purpose of the Command and Control OODTP training program and assessment is to maintain and develop the candidate’s skills, knowledge and understanding in the ERRV Command and Control role at the workplace.
Structure
To maintain and re-new the OODTP certification, individuals will continuously maintain and log practical and theoretical training onboard the ERRV. Every third year the maintained skill set will be assessed by an occupationally competent assessor.
Content
To successfully pass the assessment, the participant must be able to: • Assess the situation and take effective action • Maintain effective communication and delegate authority • Manage self and team • Identify applicable legislation and available sources of incident information • Maintaining a state of readiness and vigilance • Know the actions required to keep appropriate agencies informed throughout the incident • Implement predetermined emergency plans and procedures.

Personnel who wish to maintain their OPITO Command and Control Certificate of Competence for their nominated ERRV role.

Prerequisites
A valid OPITO Command and Control training certificate. To be considered part of the Ongoing Onboard Development and Training Programme (OODTP), an individual must have successfully met all the performance criteria for their discipline at least twice during the preceding three years.

Revalidation
According to OPITO revalidation must be carried out every 3 years.
