Course Info
Purpose

The course aims to cover the revalidation requirements given in the STCW A-VI/2-2, delivered in a blended version to offer a flexible solution for seafarers. This course aims to prepare you first, through the online theoretical lessons at your own pace to complete the practical part successfully.

Structure

The course is conducted both as e-learning and practical hands-on training. To participate in the practical session, you must first complete the online theoretical session, at your own pace. Practical training will be delivered in a controlled and safe environment at VIKING Safety Academy. Practical training followed by practical competence assessment.

Content

At the course end participants should be able to demonstrate competency as described in the STCW Code table A-VI/2-2, and take command of a fast rescue craft, including the following: • Checkpoints and inspections of the FRC • Introduction to the FRC • Procedures and communication • Using a FRC davit • Maneauvring • Search techniques and search patterns • SAR operations • Using SAR equipment • Man overboard rescue operations • First aid • Transferring personnel to rescue crafts

Target group

Coxswain or other personnel with tasks in fast rescue boats.

Revalidation

Revalidation to be conducted every five years
