Course Info

Purpose

This course will give you the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical experience in order to increase your competence regarding rescue operations from Enclosed Spaces and to train yourself about proper Rescue procedures, identification of the various enclosed space hazards and safe drills execution. Train yourself on enclosed space rescue techniques and proper use of Rescue equipment. Exercises will enable students to develop skills required in a variety of different enclosed space rescue scenarios.

Structure

The course is conducted as theoretical and mostly practical training at VIKING Safety Academy.

Content

Upon completion of the course you will be able to: • Identify and evaluate Enclosed Spaces • Enclosed Space atmosphere testing • Gas detection • Enclosed Space Hazards • Enclosed Space Entry permit • Drill organization and duties • Personal Protective Equipment • Ventilation of Enclosed Spaces • Use of SCBA for rescue • Evacuation from Enclosed Spaces, Self-rescue and Basic rescue • Use and inspection of EEBD • Communication of Rescue team • General precautions • Basic use of: Tripod systems, Fall protection equipment • Perform work tasks safely inside Enclosed Space • Rescue operation protocol • Assessment of Enclosed Spaces accidents • Use of Technical rescue equipment • Casualty management • Use of stretcher • Rescue techniques for vertical and horizontal rescues

Target group

The course is designed for seafarers with assigned Enclosed space duties, Safety Officers, Masters, Surveyors, other Enclosed Space entrants.
