Purpose
VIKING Safety Academy’s onboard training program ensures that crew are professionally trained for the operational requirements and/or preventive maintenance of Conventional Lifeboats and Davits systems including launching, recovery procedures and properly release/ reset of on-load release gears. Exercises will enable students to develop problem-solving skills required in case of malfunction.
Structure
The training program consists of theoretical and mostly practical training. The final duration and cost will be determined upon conclusion on the final training content.
Content
The training may cover the following objectives: • Execute right launch and recover procedures • Know how to properly release and reset on-load release gears • Perform Weekly and Monthly routine maintenance as per MSC.402(96) and maker instructions • Participate in a safe drill as per MSC.1/Circ.1578 and maker instructions • Follow an abandon ship procedure • Prepare the lifeboat system in a readiness status • Learn safety tips by the maker and give solutions on troubleshooting

Prerequisites
A classroom area for the theoretical part | Manuals and certificates of the equipment that will be used | Lifeboat and Davit station available for operation | Customer must obtain necessary permits from local authorities/ yard regarding Lifeboat' operation.
Certification
VIKING Safety Academy Diploma will be issued on successful completion of the course
