Course Info
Purpose
VIKING Safety Academy’s onboard training program ensures that crew are professionally trained for the operational requirements and/or preventive maintenance of Freefall Lifebots and davits systems including launching, recovery procedures. Practical experience will be gained through realistic emergency scenarios. Exercises will enable students to develop problem-solving skills required in case of malfunction.
Structure
The training program consists of theoretical and mostly practical training. The final duration and cost will be determined upon conclusion on the final training content.
Content
The training may cover the following objectives: • Follow an abandon ship procedure • Lead and perform a Freefall launching • Lower and recover the boat by falls • Perform a proper Simulated Release Test • Prepare the system in Boat readiness status • Weekly and Monthly Maintenance as per MSC.402(96) and maker instructions • Participate in safe drills as per MSC.1/Circ.1578 and maker instructions • Learn safety tips by the maker and give solutions on troubleshooting The course complies with STCW Code Section B-I/14 guidelines.
Target group
The course is designed for Coxswains, Seafarers designated as Lifeboat Operators, Engineers, Davit Operators, Senior Safety Officers and Masters.

Prerequisites
A classroom area for the theoretical part | Manuals and certificates of the equipment that will be used | Lifeboat and Davit station available for operation | Customer must obtain necessary permits from local authorities/ yard regarding Lifeboat' operation.

VIKING Safety Academy Diploma will be issued on successful completion of the course
